"ing"

"ing" is a San Francisco-based accoustipop duo - Mark Smotroff and Sean Mylett. Reviewed here is their first CD "First Version of The Wheel", recorded originally as home demos. Among artists that they say they were influenced are REM, Neil Young, XTC etc. And they play tunes from Bowie, Patti Smith, Zappa (!!) in their live acts.

With their songs being so lyrical and their melody so strong, their works easily can be distinguished from number of "alternative" musics. Some people might want a bit more roughness and wildness in their sound..., well, they are now considering adding electric and persussionist and we think it will definitely enhance their reach to broader audience. One last thing, the track we picked for this site "Connect in Gray" might be the "least catchy" track in the CD, we just liked some "uneasiness" in this track, that we thought we heard somewhere in REM or Neil Young... We will add one more track shortly, to better introduce "ing". (Added "ONE" - Sept. 5).
